Deborah Loones – Founder

Turning my own experience as an expat into helpful assistance to other people, offers me a lot of job satisfaction
Deborah Loones is the founder of Relocation Belgium. She has moved six times in seven years, having lived in the U.S. in Boston, San Francisco and Hartford as well as in Europe in Barcelona, Cologne and Ghent. She understands what it is to deal with moving companies, daycare, international schools, multiple expat clubs and relocation companies.
Once she came back to Belgium, Deborah decided that her personal experience perfectly places her to add huge value to other international transferees.
Before founding Relocation Belgium, Deborah worked as an HR consultant for General Electric, recruiting and assessing both senior executives and high potentials. In the U.S.A., she worked as marketing manager for a U.S. chocolate company importing chocolates from Belgium and distributed them to high-level stores. In that role, she was responsible for marketing. She also assisted the CEO in day-to-day operations and organized both transatlantic as well as within the U.S.
Prior to that, she worked for the Flanders Foreign Investment office in Boston. The FFIO is the economic development agency for the Flemish region in Belgium, assisting and advising American companies in setting up operations in Flanders. At the FFIO, she assisted companies such as Estee Lauder, JLG, IIMAK with their expansion plans in Europe. Her role was to act as the intermediary between these companies and the Flemish government. She was also the liaison officer with Belgian law firms, executive search firms, accountancy firms, real estate developers, etc.
Deborah has an economics degree from the EHSAL (Economische Hogeschool Sint-Aloysius) in Brussels. She speaks Dutch, English and French fluently, is conversant in German and has basic Spanish.
